Artist’s Statement: This scarf shows the last few terms of the long exact sequence of homology groups of a space X and nested subspaces A and B.
Curators’ Comment: Unlike most of the pieces in this exhibit, this scarf displays mathematics in the most extrinsic way, as though written on a piece of paper. The other objects tend towards the intrinsic. We love this scarf because the brazenness of the concept is so goofy.
